GUI Design Studio Pro is intended for the conceptual design of graphical user interfaces (GUI) for programs and websites. It has the main advantage that you do not need to work with code at any time, thus, it helps you focus on the appearance and workflow of your software. However, this product is not intended for the common user, and even experts may need to consult its excellent accompanying documentation to get the most of it.
The program has quite an intuitive interface, which is in many respects similar to those of visual IDEs, except for the coding part. There is a really large canvas onto which you can drag and drop the graphic elements without worrying about space restrictions. Moreover, you can work on various designs simultaneously as they can be opened on different tabs. Good news is that you can use templates for recurrent projects and thus save a lot of effort.
There is an extensive library that includes practically all the graphic elements necessary to conform a GUI. For instance, you can use buttons, boxes, tab sets, frames, captions and many others, which can also be combined to build customized controls. Besides, there many predesigned icons available but, if they are not exactly what the ones you need, it is possible to use the built-in icon editor to create new ones.
The elements can be placed exactly where you want to. For this purpose, you can use the grid as well as other layout options to align and space them evenly. Likewise, you are allowed to arrange them in layers. It is also great that you can work not only on the visual part of your project but also make annotations, import multimedia and even create a storyboard to link the different screens.
Another advantage of this product is that you can run an interactive simulation of your project to check what it will really look like when totally implemented. This is also of great help in presenting a prototype to your colleagues and clients. Finally, it is good to know that the program allows you to work as a member of a team as it supports version control and file sharing.
In fewer words, GUI Design Studio Pro can be a great help in the initial phases of software design. It facilitates conceptualizing your project, communicating your ideas and getting appropriate feedback. The product is sold in two versions: Express and Professional. Depending on your budget and purpose, you may decide to purchase one or the other. Luckily, both versions can be tried for a limited period of time at no cost.
